Cold hard facts.....

The computer repair industry is virtualy unregulated and people/companies that repair computers can charge whatever they want. Those of you that know nothing about computers have to rely on the "experts" and I hate to say it but data recovery/transfer DOES take TIME. The bigger the hard drive the more time it takes. TIME IS $$$$$ not to mention it can take specialized tools in some cases...... ...

Data Dr's ripoff

I visited the Data Doctors on Higley and Pecos a while back. Asked how much it would be to run a diagnostic on my slow Dell, was quoted $265.00! Bought another computer (used) for less, would never use these overpriced, arrogant crooks. Jake, QC

Perhaps a mis-understanding of cost "range" vs. actual cost?

Beth,Based on your report, it sounds like you may have had what we guessed to be a Data Transfer need at the least and a Data Recovery need at the worst. In trying to be as up front as possible about what costs you might incur, it sounds like our employee gave you a range that would cover the most likely scenarios for either situation.Generally speaking, we charge a small diagnostic fee...

Very disappointed / lost equipment

Brought my laptop in for a new hard drive. On the work order they don't note the make, model, serial no., etc. of the equip! They say there's no need b/c they're small and never lose equip. and instead put stickers on the equip w/ your last name.(I should have walked out at this point.) They had me sign paperwork, but wouldn't give me copies. They'll give you blanks, but no copies w/your...

I went to data doctors seeking a simple data extraction, as my laptop had just recently died. I was not interested in repairing any part of the laptop, simply wanted to retrieve my important files. The guy quoted my 100.00 just to sit down with the computer and see if the data could be retrieved, and then said it would be another 99.00 to obtain this data on the computer and give to me.
