Dal Rae, which opened in 1958 (the sign out front gives it away), is a throwback to another era, and its longevity is our good fortune. While the décor has been updated, the restaurant still retains the flavor of the '50s (crisp white linen, copious country club wood and cozy booths). All of the classic Escoffier-inspired dishes you came to love as a child when you were taken to a fancy...
"Frozen in time", this '50s-era Pico Rivera "period piece" lays on the "charm" with a "brilliant" menu of "upscale" American steakhouse "classics" from "years past" (e.g. "incredible" tableside Caesar salad, "thick-cut prime rib", cherries jubilee) delivered by "knowledgeable" "tuxedoed" waiters who "make you feel like an old friend"; if your wallet can handle the "pricey" tabs, grab your...
With the patina of a private '50s club, this wood-paneled room is packed with gray-haired grazers and hipsters playing Rat Pack. In the bar, a crooning pianist sings everything from loungey...
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The service and the food are excellent. I think the special sea bass I had on this visit was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. Worth the drive and the cost.
One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Excellent food, service, ambiance and an old world treasure. Kind of restaurant that takes you back in time but still provides gourmet food and exceptional service. Entire staff is friendly and attentive. A true dining experience!
Was having a very enjoyable evening , waitress was great, ambiance was great, until my wife had repeadetly asked for meduium plus lamb, it came out raw, sent it back and it came out charred/burnt,they took it back and we waited for them to bring it back out. I was almost finished when they brought it back out. Wife was over it, barely ate so it ruined the vibe. They apologized profusely ...
My family and I have been driving past this restaurant for 50 years! We really enjoyed our visit to Dal Rae. The owner came by our table to make sure everything was okay, and our waitress made us feel so comfortable! The food was spectacular. The prices were a little too high for us to dine there frequently; we will have to wait for another very special occasion.
Always fabulous. An institution, my parent took us here 50 years ago.
Fine Dining
We are so different from the ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ restaurants that make up so much of the restaurant scene,” says owner Kevin Smith
Since it opened in May, 1958, the Dal Rae’s warm and friendly private-club-like atmosphere and classic menu have continued to attract loyal customers. In November,1999, a renovation revitalized the restaurant’s retro look, added state of the art communication and multimedia facilities to its private dining room, added two patios, and expanded its seating to 320. But no renovation could ever...
