Cyclone Anaya’s Mexican Kitchen Restaurant Review

Not in a whirlwind but more like a gentle breeze, Cyclone Anaya’s Mexican Kitchen in the Mosaic District presents a huge, modernistic setting that features loads of TVs tuned to sports and a milling crowd. But despite one’s hopes pinned on the fame of the namesake celebrity wrestler, the food is aimed at midlevel palates wishing for “safe” Mexican eats. One can start off with a margarita or...

A Lone Star State Tex-Mex chain makes its first foray into Northern Virginia with a ranch-sized outpost in the Mosaic District, where it's offering fancy margaritas and upscale entrees (think lobster enchiladas), along with the familiar basics. Look for happy hour drink hoisting in the glitzy, sunset-hued mezzanine bar, while families and friends gather at the tables and roomy booths.

Lunch with colleagues

I used Waze to find the restaurant and it led me right to a free parking garage right across a driveway from the restaurant.
There were four of us for lunch and they seated us in a quiet area so we could talk. Three of us ordered from the lunch menu--2 choices and the 4th person had soup and salad....

First service at empty bar is super slow.
Second their is nothing positive we were 3 and all of us order different things and none it was different than getting food at chilis.
Mexican, tex-mex food can be so much better than this.
I believe people still go for the location and the outdoor seating, but the food is just...

Service was good, food was good, prices were reasonable. Nothing wrong to report. There wasn't anything that was special or over the top. We would stop again if we were in the area but there are a lot of places to try in the Mosaic District so we may try something else before circling back here. I would definitely give...

We came for lunch before snowmagedon was supposed to hit. The restaurant was empty so our food came very quickly. I recommend the beef brisket quesadilla, and they have Dos Equis on draft! I love that the bartender warned us that the bar bites are "cute" (i.e. Small lol)...we ordered a few of them and ended up with plenty of...

Chips and salsa

I went to Cyclone Anaya's with several friends for dinner, and it was good. I ate my weight in chips and salsa before our food came, and they were delicious. I debated between the tuna and lobster tacos, and went with the lobster. They were good, but nothing spectacular. A friend had the crab nachos and he said they were...
