Cubano's Restaurant Review

One of the least represented cuisines in the metro area, Cuban food goes a long way to fitting in as a very substantial if not elegant way of eating: loads of stews, mashed veggies, rice and beans, and fried meats, all based on seafood, pork, and chicken laced with garlic. A blend of Spanish and Caribbean influences, this tropical cuisine draws on such island favorites as lechon asado,...

No "government license to travel" is needed to partake of "authentic" ropa vieja or lechón asado at this "relaxed" Cuban joint "hidden away" in Silver Spring; its mojitos "will light up your experience" and, along with "friendly" servers, lend an "upbeat" vibe to the already "colorful" space, making the "pricey"-for-the-genre ticket price "worth it."

Visited this excellent Cuban restaurant in the past and this return visit did not disappoint. Part of my family lives in Miami and this restaurant rivals the best Cuban offerings that we have experienced there. My wife's Vaca Frita came out perfectly as did my Pollo Crema Velado. Our dinner partners ordered the house specialty Snapper and enjoyed it. Overall...

Unique Cuban food experience

We have loved this restaurant since it opened in Silver Spring. Every dish is delicious. Staff is friendly and eager to please. We have had several issues with wrong orders, both food and drink many simple like instead of a diet coke they bring a sprite. Or instead of a white wine ordered they bring a red. But the experience...

Food is big portion, nice ambiance too. Location is central in downtown Silver Spring. We ordered the sampler. Margarita does not taste like how it should be, too sweet. The dish are ok but not great. It doesnt taste like real thing but taste like being patterned after the American paletee

Good food, expensive, slow service

I went to Cubanos on a Saturday late afternoon. The restaurant was already quite full. As the evening progressed it became busier but there were always a few empty tables. Our waiter, Omar, was very friendly and enthusiastic. All the staff were accommodating. However with that said the service was at times painstakingly slow. The restaurant is rather bright which...

Amazing Mojitos and Good Food

We leave in the downtown Silver Spring area and are frequent visitors to Cubanos. They have great mojitos, great service and great food. I personally like the Ropa Viejo, but my husband gets Mi Tierra, which is a sampler of their Cuban dishes. Don't leave without a Cuban coffee and some tres leches cake!

For those of us who may never get to visit Cuba, we can at least experience the next-best-thing at Cubano's. From paella to mariscada, to the eponymous sandwich that lends Cubano's it's name, there's a little something of everything from Cuba's diverse cuisine. And with its brightly colored walls and Wednesday-night Flaminco dancing, the Cuban experience can be yours without ever having to...
