Coquette Restaurant Review

Coquette has some of the highest ceilings in town and massive windows overlooking bustling Magazine Street. The menu from chef-owner Mike Stoltzfus changes daily, but always offers small and large plates. Typical dishes include fried chicken or slow-cooked pork with roasted cabbage. First-timers might consider the five-course blind tasting ($70). Desserts are imaginative, to say the least; go...

The building now occupied by Coquette has a history of failed restaurants, but this one has two things going for it that may ensure longevity. First, the chef-owner, Mike Stoltzfus, used to be the sous chef at Restaurant August, under…

Things to love about Coquette: the cocktail menu, one of the best in a city that knows its drinks; upstairs, Bill Hemmerling's lovely folk paintings; the $20 three-course lunch, an almost ridiculously good deal (with options like tangy oysters roasted with fennel and bacon or buttery crawfish tails and asparagus over pasta); the $40 four-course dinner, ibid; the little kick delivered by the...

This romantic Magazine Street bistro is a respite from the rancor, and a perfect spot for a couple who wouldn't mind actually hearing what each other had to say. Unlike many Nola eateries, the high ceilings, exposed brick walls and oak bar are kept spare, while the food possesses a similar unpretentious, let-the-ingredients-speak-for-themselves quality. It's a great place that doesn't bang you...

We were attempting to escape a Super Bowl game with opponents that my bride and I could care less about. Therefore, we Ubered a short distance to this top-rated establishment located at Washington and Magazine streets in NOLA. Consistently excellent meals have been enjoyed by us at this venue and tonight was no exception. Recommendations to be seriously considered are: the yellowfin tuna crudo...

We had a truly memorable meal at Coquette. The chef even made an absolutely delicious special salad for us when we didn't see any salads on the menu. Good wine list, friendly wait staff, and a simple, lovely, pleasing decor. Our time there made an ordinary Saturday night feel special.

Brought a group -6 of us-for Friday night dinner. My wife and I had eaten at Coquette many times in the past and thought it would be a good place for out of town friends. We were wrong. The service was very good, but the food was another matter. First, there is a very limited menu. We ordered a variety of small & large plates. Of them, the fried duck wings were best. Everything else was so so....

Eating places

Romantic Dining, Beignets: Coquette, the popular bistro and wine bar offers their own take on the New Orleans classic beignet, and it surely is a doozy. The highlight of the third course of their famous "3 Course $20 Lunch", Coquette's French doughnuts have a more doughy taste than the city's other options. If this bothers you for some reason, you can always pile the sugar on higher. Unlike...
