Help us make it rightAnd just to add to it: the reason there are pending transactions is because the merchant has not processed the actual debit. When the debit comes in, it is matched to the pending item, which is then dropped and the debit paid.

It's nice to see things haven't changed much regarding overdraft charges. i will take my report a step further:
I got a checking account but only for the card and never ordered checks, and i only ever used the card for doing debit transactions.

Not a Bank Employee or work for a bank, but these are fairly simple explanations:
1. The bank has a separate system that tracks transactions and will interface with the online system you see. Since they happen to be two separate systems, there may be situations where the bank will see a transaction when you don't. On the other hand, these situations I suspect are rare, but they do happen.
