Editorial reviews from the web (5)

You’ll “want to eat everything in sight”, from the “shockingly” “delicious cookies” and pastries to the “memorable” muffins and “savory treats” at City Bakery owner Maury Rubin’s blossoming bunch of eco-conscious bakeries; the “inventive” “temptations” are made with “good-for-you” organic and local ingredients and everything in its sustainably outfitted environs is green-minded – little wonder...

A former Chickpea location in the East Village gets rebranded as a kosher spot.

City Bakery's green flour movement infiltrates NYU dorm. Powered by wind, cups made of corn for quicker biodegrading. Crispy pignoli cookies nod to former doughboys, maple bacon biscuits don't got time for the past. Slake that thirst with fresh lemonade, or kombucha straight from the tap. Fight for last honey raisin scone in organic, sustainable manner: hair-pulling.

Top-Notch falafel and shawarma.

One of the city's most aggressive attempts to market fresh, top-quality falafel and shawarma to a middle-class audience, Chickpea does a narrow menu really well.

This little storefront-cum-restaurant dishes out the best hummus, falafel and schwarma in the East Village, and judging by the constant line seen snaking around outside its humble doors is certainly beloved.

I love this place! Every chance I'm in the area i always stop by for lunch.Yes it is like a mediterrean subway, but the quality is not comparable. I always go with the platter with hummus,...

The chicken shawarma is tasty and they usually arrive earlier than the delivery time.

Chicken shawarma pita is my go-to favorite

fast, healthy food

Chickpea is a neat little falafel place, convenient to Union Square. Although not as good as more authenti Middle Eastern fare, Chickpea has the usual standards for very, very cheap. The portions are huge!

Healthy, homemade pitas, ready to go Middle Eastern food. That’s Chickpea described in less than ten words. Located in the heart of the East Village in New York City, Chickpea serves fresh food that is perfect for those looking for a quick, inexpensive (under five dollars) and healthy meal.

Non-fried falafels are the métier of this Mideastern “quick-bite” chainlet vending baked “balls of goodness” that are “fresh, hot” and “cheap”; “assembly-line” service and “uninspired” decor to the contrary, it’s an “easy way to eat healthy.”
