We read the amazing reviews with my boyfriend and ordered from this restaurant. Scallion pancakes were very thick and uncooked, sweet and sour chicken had a very thick batter on it, it was like wet bread with a terrible sweet ketchup tasting sauce. I am not exaggerating, also the fried rice basically boiled white rice with raw vegetables in it. It is in front of me, 3 raw bamboo shoots, 6 raw...
After Mama Buddha shut its doors, I was forced to seek another go to restaurant for my chinese fix. By far, this exceeds all the others. While it may be a little pricier, it is entirely worth it. The ingredients are fresher and tastier. The portion sizes and the quality make it worth it. My regular dishes are eggroll and shrimp with broccoli. Consistent and reliable food/service every time.

charlies has the same old guys that will shake your hand when and greet you like family! the food is great..I take people there all the time...and recommend anyone i know who is visiting the west village...yeah the place on 7th in the 90's...
