Chef William Kovel, formerly of Aujourd'Hui at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston, has opened his first restaurant. Located in Cambridge's Technology Square, Catalyst offers Modern American cuisine, featuring dishes such as house-made pastas and Rhode Island striped bass served with corn, lobster and basil.

It's a nice restaurant and the food was good. The service though was a bit under the standard for a place like this. They forgot to bring the wine, until we asked for it a second time. They brought the soup without spoons, until we asked for them.
They didn't have still mineral water (!). They forgot to bring clean...

This was my 2nd time at Catalyst. There is always a decent crowd. Bar is fun to hang out after work and the food is good. Our waitress was very attentive and we had a good time.

Friends of ours recommended this place as a good place to meet and eat. The meal was very pleasant. The service was good. I had the grilled octopus for starters. Yum!

Very well prepared food with good variety on the menu. The grilled octopus appetizer was well seasoned and cooked to just the right degree, but was served at a lukewarm temperature when it should have been a bit warmer. The Fennell and Leek soup was exquisite. The

Catalyst is a largish modern restaurant in Kendall Square near MIT. It's a serious, professional operation, classy but not really fancy. The menu (American) is quite extensive, with lots of good choices, and the food is well-prepared - nothing spectacular, but pretty good. Same for the wine list. Full bar.
