I just feel someone needs to speak out about this company. My young friend has had her life ruined before she ever even got started!
In hopes of getting a job, my friend visited Beaver Creek Apartments and found them to be very nice, so she filled out the application and paid $35 for a credit/screening fee. She did not have a job, and did not meet the income criteria. For some reason, the manager Judy never questioned that part of her application, and Carla Properties approved her application! My friend then gave Beaver Creek a check for deposit and part of the rent. Three days later, my friend realized she would not be getting the job she had hoped for and called Beaver Creek and told them she would not be moving in. She canceled the check she had written to them and assumed she had done what she needed to do. NOT THE CASE! My son moved to Portland to help his friend out by working while she attended school. They signed a lease togther at another Carla Properties apartment complex. After they had moved in, they were served with an eviction notice. When they tried to talk to Rick Marston at Carla Properties, he was very nasty and told them they either had to pay the $885.39 due from the previous apartment or they had to get out. My son never even stepped a little toe onto the Beaver Creek Apartment property, nor did he sign anything with them. Long story short, now they are going after both my son and his friend with a collection agency. The young lady never should have gotten past the $35 credit/screening fee. I believe they allow people to walk into this trap, knowing that there is no way they will be able to pay, hence free money for Carla Properties! You would think that a fee paid for screening would mean someone would actually READ the application. I will never forgive Rick Marston at Carlas Properties for his inability to communicate nicely. He reminds me of a slum lord I once knew.
