This charming and intimate Federal-style bed and breakfast was once a historic sea captain's and ship builder's home. The restored home offers six comfortable guest rooms, including a two-room suite; with private baths. A full homemade breakfast is served in the sunny breakfast room. Dog friendly and child friendly.

My husband and I chose Captain Briggs because it is pet friendly and within walking distance of downtown Freeport. We stayed for one night with our dog in the Evergreen Room, which had a beautiful full bathtub (a nice treat for a cold, damp night). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

This was our first stay at this B&B. The location is perfect - close to all the action, but on a quiet, residential dead end street. This is an old (mid 1800s) ship builder's house, and must be a nightmare to maintain, but the current owners, Bev and Chuck Tefer, have obviously given it a lot of TLC.

I do want to note I'm behind in my reviews and our stay was actually JULY 2011, not September.
We stayed in this inn in the "Bayberry" room on the first floor. My Mom stayed in the "Forget-Me-Not" room on the second floor and my boyfriends parents stayed in the dog room just to the left of the front door....
