The Canoe Shack is a horrible canoe rental place on the Fox River in South Elgin, Illinois. The canoes are broken. The life jackets are moldy. It costs 60$ to rent a canoe. They say they'll be waiting to pick you up at the end. But they weren't there. We waited for two hours in a hot parking lot. Plus the pickup point is in a cement parking lot, right next to a dam. well we saw their web site and living in the st charles area decided to give it a try. hmmm how do i put this. well we were greeted from a distance from a man sitting in a broken down van. we were told to grab down our canoe, which was fine by me im not a weakling. what got me was the smell of booze all over this guy. i didnt even put down my real info because he just didnt look trust worthy. the canoes where in good shape and the trip was great until the end. here i thought that the bus pictured on the web site would pick us up and tow the canoes back to the place we started. wrong i was....
