Help us make it rightHome to Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach is surrounded by the rugged natural beauty of forests, ocean beaches, and rivers.
In Short
Located just 80 miles west of Portland, this is the first stop on many a coastal journey. With more than nine miles of accessible beachfront, the beach is perfect for kiters,...
We stopped by Cannon Beach on our tour of the PNW. We spent a good couple of hours just walking the beach and enjoying the amazing scenery, mountains on one side, the Pacific on the other. It was just absolutely gorgeous. We didn't stay long enough for the sunset but I'm sure it would've been spectacular! They had clean restrooms...
I have been visiting CB for 20 years...I had the privilege of living here for 3 summers as well. It is my favorite place in the world. I have visited many places on the globe, but there is no place quite as special. Here are the must-see/do places, while you are in town: Haystack (Goonies opening scene was filmed here),...
Beautiful beach! Walk towards Haystack rock around low tide for the tidal pools. Or wade across the Ecola creek where the beach is a little less crowded.
Wonderful area of the OR Coast to visit. You will not be isolated and can expect the area to be crowded with lots of beach traffic. Public Parking is available, but fills quickly so the later in the day you go, the more difficulty you will have in finding a spot. Great for families.
Had been over 20 years since I'd been here wow has it ever changed. More businesses and motels. More quaint than Seaside with a whole lot less people
Cannon Beach Oregon is a trendy, charming hamlet on the Pacific coast with picket fences and massive rocks rising from the surf. With a renowned artist community, galleries abound. There is upscale shopping at plazas along manicured streets. Visit in June to compete in the yearly sand castle building contest.
One of Oregon's most popular coastal destinations, this little village blends nature, art and style with an East Coast feel. The town's silver sand and strict construction codes make for a perfect nest in the northwest rainforest. Stroll along South Hemlock Street where you can take in the many shops, galleries and restaurants that crowd the main drag. Do not miss Haystack Rock. Entirely...
During low tide, check out the tide pools around Haystack Rock, which juts dramatically from the coastline some 235 feet. The tide pools are filled with interesting sea creatures. But beware slippery rocks, and leave the tide pools as you found them.
On your way to Cannon Beach, make sure to stop at the world's tallest Sitka spruce tree (216 feet high, 52 feet in circumference), located just off Highway 26.
The beach here is a popular tourist destination, so summers tend to be crowded.
