What the community has to say about Cafe Iberico

Information about this business (1)

Free-flowing sangria, mouthwatering tapas and friends who do not mind leaving their watches at home are all ingredients for a perfect evening at Cafe Iberico. The prices are reasonable, the menu has a stunning array of choices and the atmosphere is Barcelona with a heavy dose of Chicago. Salmon flakes, hot goat's cheese and grilled fig sausage get rave reviews. Appetizers are quite reasonable,...

Editorial reviews from the web (4)

"Every day is a party" at this "bustling, boisterous" River North "tapas standard", "a favorite for large groups" seeking a "wide selection" of "well-crafted" "authentic" Spanish plates bolstered by "amazing sangria"; sure, the "huge" "community center"–like space "lacks decor", service can be "slow" and a no-reservations policy (except for parties of six or more) often results in "long waits"...

A Spanish expat from Galicia runs this tapas restaurant hailed by visiting Spaniards and local families, dating couples, and cheap chowhounds. It's easy to build a meal from the selection of small plates, which range from baked goat cheese to Spanish ham, grilled squid, skewered beef, and the classic pulpo a la plancha (grilled octopus with potatoes and olive oil)—most for under $10. This is a...

Cafe Iberico Restaurant Review

What started as an authentic tapas bar has sprawled into an institution with several huge dining rooms (some with the charm of a mess hall) and a deli carrying everything from prepared tapas to cooking equipment. In the process, food quality and service have suffered. Still, this remains a lively and generally likeable place to come with a big group and eat cheaply. If there are only a few of...

This no-frills tapas spot won't win any points for style, but the consistently good food and festive atmosphere make it a longtime local favorite for singles in their 20s and 30s. Café Iberico gets very loud, especially on weekends, so it makes a fun group destination -- but plan your romantic tête-à-tête elsewhere. Crowds begin pouring in at the end of the workday, so you'll probably have to...

It is a lively place with busy wait staff. It is a day later and nothing that I ate was memorable or worth writing about. The salmon and other appetizers were visually appealing but minimalist. I guess because our group had so much fun talking and catching up with each other the food was secondary. Will …

Great place! Excellent to bring out-of-towners or a casual date. Food is great, service is fast, and the atmosphere is fun and festive. Get the red sangria and arrive early. They don't take reservations and the place is always busy; that's a good thing! Oh! And their Patatas Bravas are out of this world, because they're made, "the important way!

I have gone to this restaurant five times after finding out about it a year ago. I can't sing enough praises about their lamb chops and sangria. I have gone here with parties and had a blast drinking Sangria and being fully content withou breaking the bank. The ambiance of the restaurant is impressive in it own …

Went here on a Sunday evening at around 5:30 with a friend and my husband. We had a really nice meal for a pretty reasonable price, including a bottle of wine. The food came out pretty quickly. I'm taking a star away because the waiter was a little bit absent and when we wanted to ask for more …

Great place to get tapas. Love the lamb chops, mussels, clams, and fries! Service is solid.

Business description (9) view all

Spanish: Café Iberico has both fans and foes but there is a reason this Spanish restaurant continues to be popular: it attracts a young, attractive crowd that enjoys the upbeat festive atmosphere (read: loud) and abundant selection of cold and hot tapas ($2-7 each) like jamon iberico, baked goat cheese, vegetarian Spanish omelets, chicken brochette with caramelized onions or grilled octopus....

Top-of-the-line tapas such as Spanish ham with manchego cheese makes this place a hit. Other selection include blood sausage and grilled shrimp. Be prepared to wait in this always bustling restaurant, but service is quick once you get a table. Open Mon-Thurs 11 am-11:30 pm, Fri 11 am-1:30 am, Sat 12 pm-1:30 am, Sun 12 pm-11 pm. -

I used to go to Cafe Iberico often when I...

Cafe Iberico is a Spanish, Tapas, and Portuguese restaurant where most Menuism users came for fun with friends, paid between $10 and $25, and tipped between 15% to 18%.

Cafe Iberico is a restaurant that specializes in the regional cuisines of Spain. A tapa is a small portion of almost any food. They are shared as "family style". Usually two tapas per person are enough for a meal. Try some today!

This popular Spanish restaurant once had only four tables, but now it can seat more than 400 with ease. The house is usually packed, thanks to authentic tapas offerings and an upbeat, festive atmosphere. Have a fruity pitcher of sangria and order hot and cold appetizer-sized dishes like baked goat cheese, vegetarian Spanish omelets, chicken brochette with caramelized onions, or grilled octopus....

Tips about this business (2)

Valet is available from 5pm to 12am everyday.

Iberico has an impressively lengthy list of wines and sherries--but most people go for generous pitchers of fruity red or white sangria, a bargain at just $12.95.
