Help us make it rightAlejandro and Maria Gonzalez, owners of Oaxaca and Quezalcoatl in Huntington, are the owners of a wonderful new mexican restaurant in Farmingdale called Chichimecas. It is named for a nomadic Mexican people who have long since assimilated.
We have been serving Long Island since 1994, are two-time Top 10 and one time Top 20 winners from Newsday, and recently Chichimecas has been rated one of the four top Mexican restaurants on Long Island (Peter Gianotti, Newsday). Our first experience but won't be our last. The ambience was wonderful. The staff is friendly and professional. The menu is very varied and the food was very flavorful and delicious. On Saturday night we were treated to a guitar player/singer. He was not overwhelming...just pleasant background music. We promised the owner as we were leaving that they have new customers.
2nd time at this restaurant. Food was once again very good. Service was attentive and good. It's a bit loud. The guitarist is fun to have around but it is a bit odd to hear some of the songs he plays (Batman theme, Henry Mancini Pink Panther theme, soft rock) in a Mexican restaurant. Prices are good for what you get and I think this is a very good value.
Have passed by chichimechas a couple of times and always said we would try it. This past Saturday we did just that and had a phenomenal dinner. Service was spot on and the specials were delicious. I had the paella and plate was overflowing. Food was served hot and drinks were ice cold, couldn't have asked for a better night. We will definitely be back, Keep up the good work
