In ShortInside the Hashemi brothers' bright and tidy shop, you're as likely to bump into a hip young designer as you are her seamstress grandma. While mostly a wholesale outlet to the fashion and movie industries, the store is open to the public, and anyone can visit for a quick education in the history and variety of fasteners. Most stock is imported--glass from Austria, bone and horn from India and Germany, vegetable ivory from Central American tagua palms.
