Stay away.

Stay as far away as you can. They show on time but can't fix the problem. And, as I am told by extremely rude owner, they don't have a "magic wand".... Here is my experience: A few days before Thanksgiving my furnace started acting up. At least 3-5 times a day the furnace would fail to ignite and when it finally ignited, there was a loud explosion (I am not an expert but it sounds like the gas was accumulating every time the furnace try to ignite causing the explosion). It sounded pretty scary, especially knowing that my kids are around. So I called Briarwood. They came the next afternoon and cleaned the flame sensor, but the problem was not fixed. Further, once in a while the furnace would lack itself up after so many failed attempts to ignite and the only way to get it to work would be to wait 3 hours or to reset it. The next day was Thanksgiving and we were hosting. I had to reset the furnace twice during the Thanksgiving. So I called Briarwood the next day. Another technician came and said I need to tell him the codes next time the furnace fails to ignite. At that point I thanked God that I am a mid-age male and I can probably handle that (I guess if I was in my 80 leaving alone, it could have been an issue there would be no hope for me to have heat...). So I got the codes and called back the next day. After a couple of days another technician came (third one, this time it was the owner but I didn't know that at that time). He recommended replacing the igniter as the reading was high. He said he will check in his truck if he has one and if not, they will have to order it. He went to his track and.... left. I thought I misunderstood the next steps and decided to wait for the call when the igniter arrives. Got the call next day (Friday) but the earliest they could come was next week (Monday I believe). I said fine and ... took another day off from work. The same guy who recommended I read the codes came, but was not aware he needs to replace the igniter. Needless to say I was irritated. We went to the furnace and when he was about to open it, we heard the explosion. All he said was "Oh s@!t" and I was happy that he finally saw what I was dealing with. Of course he didn't have the igniter and recommended he bends the aluminum to which the igniter was mounted. I said no. So he put everything back together and said "if you have any other problems, give us a call". Other problems? You did absolutely nothing and expect this problem to be fixed? I politely asked to tell the owner or manager to call me when he gets back to the office. No call for two weeks. In a meantime I ordered the igniter myself and replaced it which partially fixed the problem (the furnace still fails to ignite but not that often). It's been a month since Thanksgiving so yesterday I called and asked to speak to the owner at which point I found out that he's name is Lee and he is the third technician who came to my house. He was rude when we talked on the phone interrupting my when I was trying to tell him about my experience saying that the technicians don't have "magic wand" but offer to come over the next day (today) to take a look at it. Upon his arrival I was once again told that he doesn't have a magic wand and that he can replace whatever I want him to replace (burners, flame sensor, etc.). I told him that had I known what was wrong with the furnace and I was hoping he would be able to figure it out since this is what he does for a living. It was clear at that point that he doesn't want to do anything and he was trying to intimidate me asking me what I do for a leaving and asking what do I do if I have to fix an issue. Not sure how this was relevant and getting angry with the conversation, I told him we are done doing business and I asked him to leave my house. I had to repeat that request two more times because he continued to try to get into my face. He refunded my money and when I wanted to give him the change back that I owed him, he crumbled the bill and throw it on the ground. Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the owner of Briarwood. I apologize for the long review but I wanted to give you enough details so you can decide for yourself if I am being unreasonable and if you want to do business with this company. I strongly recommend you don't.

Called for service at 6pm, left message, and my called was returned promptly by Pat. Rather than come out and charge for a service call, Pat walked me through a simple repair (even for me) and the problem is now fixed. What a refreshing experience! Customer and referral source for life!!
