Incompetent and negligent

Please do not go to this vet if you have an exotic pet! My family brought our 3 year old guinea pig here for a simple runny eye. We wanted to be sure he was not in the beginning stages of a URI – so we brought him in to be safe. Upon taking a fecal sample we believe Dr. Brauer misdiagnosed him with an intestinal infection – which he had ZERO symptoms of (great appetite, normal feces and urine, very active/energetic, no other changes). After never having thoroughly examined him – he sent us on our way with a $300 bill. Long story short, we believe the antibiotics he prescribed made him sicker and caused him massive intestinal issues (bloating, loss of appetite, constipation, and dehydration). We brought him in as soon as he began to worsen and suddenly Dr. Brauer believes it to be a respiratory infection. Gives us another set of medication – and charges yet another $200+ even though he could have done his job accurately the first time. Within hours of seeing him, our little guy was even worse and crying out in pain and unable to walk anymore. We rushed him back in and upon taking an x-ray Dr. Brauer let us know that his stomach was backed up as well as being full of gas (also listed as side effects of the medication he more than likely inaccurately prescribed). He told us that there was no guarantee that he could be saved and that he was indeed suffering. We had to do the humane thing and put him to sleep last night. Our family was, and still is, heartbroken and completely in disbelief. To add insult to injury, we were then charged $82 to euthanize him, and a $52 “euthanization office visit”. This man potentially killed our pet due to negligence and incompetency. He is arrogant and rude and has zero bedside manner. I am not one to write negative reviews because I “didn’t get my way” or just to be a thorn in someone’s side. I’m sure he has taken great care of other pets – but not ours. We trusted him and all he was out for was money. According to many other reviews on here, we are not the only family who see this. Before we could even say goodbye to our pet they were asking about payment. Money is not an issue – we would spend $100,000 if needed to save any of our babies, but due to Dr. Brauer’s negligence, that wasn’t even an option. The entire office staff is unprofessional, uncaring, and absolutely not fit to work with animals. They do not care about the well being of the pets they’re being entrusted with. Our sweet pig lost his life, and I cannot change that – but if I can prevent this from happening to even ONE other animal, then writing this review is worth it.

Hands down the WORST vet to see. Besides the fact that I had waited 45 minutes to even get my little girl weighed, I then waited 15 minutes to get into a room. Once that wait was over, I then found myself waiting another 20 minutes for anyone to come into the exam room. Lets not forget to mention, I had never taken my animals to this vet.. He didn't even introduce himself, his hello was nothing but a rude grin. Once the ""exam"" started (which I could have done myself), he proceeded to give me what seemed to be an interrogation. I could understand being ""concerned"" and asking questions,...

Best vet in the area, hands down. If you go there on a regular basis (if you love your animals, you go here. If you don't care and are a cheapskate you go elsewhere) you know the staff and their personal care for the animals. Not everyone who works there is incredibly invested, but most are here to make a career out of their work and all of them bring their own animals. I took my dog here for...

My mom took her bird to Dr. Brauer. He drew blood and tests showed that she had e-coli. He charged my mother between $300 and $400 for this first treatment which amounted to nothing. She still continued to deteriorate. My mom took her bird back to Dr. Brauer after 2 weeks on medication for e-coli. She left her there overnight so he could give her a shot of B12. Overnight, he force feed...

I MIGHT give them another star if my turtle gets better. Our 20+ yr old turtle has been sick recently (mind you, for the first time ever), so like the very caring owners we are, we took it to the only vet around that takes turtles. We waited 45 minutes past our appointment time until they even took the turtle. Another 15 to actually be let into the exam room ourselves, and another 20 until he...

Needed to locate a veterinary clinic closer to home after a lifelong association with a great animal clinic in Greene County. Our female GSD had a spinal injury that was treated at the Ohio State University. An article spoke about Dr. Brauer's treatment of local law enforcement K9s. Dr. Brauer and all of his staff have provided the best of care to my Savvy, Cassie, Hondo, and Kashmir (GSD) as well as a lab shepherd Samantha and our puggle Molly. I would spend any amount of money for the wonderful care that my dogs have received as well as the treatment by all to my family.
