Help us make it rightThe Bowery is located behind Bowers Harbor Inn in the former servants' quarters. The Bowery does maintain close ties with the Inn but its history and atmosphere are entirely unique. It was, and still is, connected to the main building by way of a second story corridor. The wing was completely abandoned when the Inn first became a restaurant in the late 1950's.
Lovely spot just north of Traverse City. We visited late afternoon, and we were lucky, because the wait was 2 hours when we left. Great food, excellent beers, and friendly attentive service make this a superb place to visit.
Nice vibe/atmosphere, beautiful location (although you don't get the best view from inside). Service was solid. The JP beer was of course interesting and had a few really nice beers on tap but their "guest" beers (i.e. North Peak) were pretty unexciting. If you are a Drinker, this place might be GREAT. We are not. Unusual Food Flavors, but did not suit us: We had the Pastrami Reuben (small, lackluster), Truffle Fries (tasted good at first, but then we couldn't make ourselves finish them), and the special was Whitefish (we are both Whitefish Lovers) that was supposed to be Fresh, but tasted...
Our group of 12 was seated immediately on this January, mid-week evening.
Wait staff was courteous and efficient. One group member questioned the result of his order and was served a NEW/replacement item in no time at all. A varied menu, wonderful selections of crafted beers, casual atmosphere....simply a wonderful evening out with friends.

On the way back from Winter Warm up we stopped at Jolly Pumpkin. Gary had the mushroom pizza, brother -in-law pepperoni, my sister turkey rubin and I had the bison sloppy joe.. The guys like the pizza. My sisters came made wrong. My fries were cold and chewy. So I asked for new ones. The bison was greasy but fair....
