This artisanal roaster (with outposts in Lakeview and River North and one on the way in Pilsen) grinds and brews its beans – some of them direct-trade – into drip and cold-pressed coffee drinks, luring locals jonesing for java. The hipster, utilitarian settings have limited seating, and the no-frills coffee bar on Broadway sits in front of the roasting facility that supplies the roaster's shops...

My favorite coffee shop in the world and perfect pre-work location. Strong but smooth Americanos, even smoother Colombian beans and friendly people. Rotating specialty foods set up shop here, from doughnuts to Argentine affogatos and hand-crafted pastries, some gluten-free options!

The Merch Mart area has a rare indie option! Don't expect wi-fi or sugary drinks. Instead, ask for a pourover and watch the baristas work their magic.

I love coffee, but I am no expert by any means. Bow Truss helped me pick the right iced coffee brew without any pretentiousness or snobbery. Atmosphere is super cute coffee house vibe and my coffee was strong and delicious! Great little find next to the Merch Mart.

Love Bow Truss coffee--one of my favorite local roasters. If you like strong, flavorful, often very acidic brews, this is your stuff. This location isn't the coziest for sitting and getting work done, but if you need to grab a quick cup to go, this is is great stop right by Merchandise Mart.
