Help us make it rightEveryone always tells me that my beagle is absolutely beautiful and the best behaved beagle they've ever met. On the outside, she's perfect. She's even got AKC papers. The reason I gave a low rating is because my precious puppy has hip dysplasia, a congenital defect that has only been proven to be hereditary. My puppy is only three and a half years old. Donna Bounds should NOT have bred the parents of my dog. If you want a certified healthy purebred, do not buy from a place that has multiple litters at the same time. That's your first tell tale sign that the breeder is in the business for the wrong reason.
I got my two girls from Donna. Mine did come with papers. You have to remember that she does this as a business but her kennels have always been clean when I went out there. I have visited her a number of times in the last 7 years and never noticed a problem.
I have two beagles from Bounds Beagles and to this day have never received any AKC papers after asking several times for them. I worked for her to pay off one of the dogs and every time I went out there the price went up and this beagle wasn't even pure bred. No good breeder registers as many litters as she does. Also ask to see up in back where they keep all the rest of their dogs. You'll be suprised, She loves to brag about how her dogs paid for that humongous house she is living in that they built with all the money she is making on her dogs. Sound more like a puppy mill to me. Just be cautious.
I purchased my first beagle from Donna Bounds in 1998 and was happy with her training of the puppies. My beagle is now almost 11 years old and we’re now looking to add another beagle to our family. Last month I visited Donna at her establishment and was very satisfied with the quality of her facility. Donna is a quality breeder and makes sure that all her beagles are purchased to successful loving homes. I too am in the San Diego Beagle Brigade and the Doggie Social Hour ( and I have run into people who have dogs from Donna and the feedback has always been positive. I highly recommend this breeder.

How could you possibly support this in humane treatment of these dogs? Have you actually seem the deplorable conditions in which they live??? They spend their entire lives on concrete floor, chain link cages with tin metal roofs. Temperatures get over 100 degrees in summer while Donna spends her days in her air conditioned manor!!!! You can get a cute beagle from your oval rescue. Please adopt, don't shop!!!!
