Editorial reviews from the web (1)

"Filling" chow for "cheap" is the formula at this "family-friendly" trio, a "must-go" for "tasty" Cajun–Tex-Mex eats served up "extremely fast" with "bottomless chips" and salsa and "giant margaritas"; some find it "not super-authentic" and the setting "clichéd", but "still, they come in droves", so peak hours are a "total zoo."

Disappointing birthday dinner

For years, my boyfriend and I have been faithful patrons of Cambridge’s Border Café and mourned its recent closing. Recently, we ventured out to their Burlington location to celebrate my birthday, and what a disaster it was. Not more than a half hour after consuming...two shrimp tacos, I was stricken with wrenching stomach pains and forced to abruptly leave the table. Rushing to the bathroom, I...

I've been going to Border Cafe for decades in Saugus MA and NJ. I love it because it's a small chain, and it's one of the only places I can get Cajun inspired Mexican and not the usual Tex-Mex. Reading the recent negative reviews, I...was wondering if COVID-19 had somehow ruined them. Looked online at the bare menu now available, decided to chance it. Literally could not have had a better...

This was my favorite restaurant for many years however it is has now been de-listed from both my cell phone restaurant contacts and my Firefox favorites. On each of my last 4 visits I have left completely disappointed. The French Quarter Chicken pepper sauce has...evolved from a creamy spicy topping to a transparent and bland ingredient. The Filet Mignon Jim Bowie Style medallions arrive almost...

I have driven by this restaurant hundreds of times and always wondered if it was any good. Well. We stopped in last night to give it a try. We sat at the bar. My wife ordered a spicy hot margarita and I ordered a corona...light. The bartender said he would gladly get jalapeños from the kitchen but he wouldn’t put them in her margarita. Ok. How’s that for lazy. My Corona was ICE cold ?. We...

You're in the company of people who love good times and good food. Everything was fresh in Jose's day. So everything has to be fresh today. Everything has to be perfect. Because we have to be true to your high expectations. And to the memory of a little man in a little kitchen near the border in South Louisiana.

Started in Harvard Square in 1987, the Border Cafe has long been a local favorite for Tex-Mex dining. This Burlington location is no exception with its menu of fajitas, quesadillas and tacos as well as Cajun choices like crawfish etouffee and blackened catfish. Kids' meals come with a side of fries and a drink as well as M&M's or Starbursts. There are a variety of margaritas to choose from for...
