The Blue Cafe originally opened in Long Beach on July 3, 1992. When it first opened the venue was known for bringing in great blues and rock acts like Los Lobos, the Blasters, Taj Mahal, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, Sublime and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
With time comes change and in 2003 the Blue Cafe was sold to the current owners. Since this time the Blue Cafe has kept the same quality...

Aweful place to go. My husand and I went to see a friends band play. We were charges $15 to get in the door...then charged $7.00 for one bottle of MIller Lite. Unbelieveable. I don't think I have ever paid that price for a MIller -ever--even at Skybar in Hollywood.

I lived in Long Beach for 11 years and always loved this place. Saw some great blues acts there and lots of local acts. The food is great and the ambiance is better. If you go to Long beach go here.

Great music. A fun atmosphere to blow a couple of hours. It is also a great place to pick up a game of pool upstairs. It is uncrowded. The bar tenders are friendly. The food is OK but a bit on the greasy side. It does the job if you drank a teensy weensy too much.

The Blue Cafe is a two-story tavern and billiard hall featuring an eclectic menu - everyting from nachos and quesadillas to egg rolls and Asian chicken salad to burgers, salads and sandwiches. The venue hosts live music Tuesday-Sunday, featuring hip hop, reggae, blues, rockabilly, soul/funk, punk and alternative rock music acts with a $5-$15 cover.

The Blue Cafe is located in the lower level at 217 Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach, below Mariposa Lounge. The Blue Cafe is an intimate room that hosts live music, dj's and emcees.

Most shows are 21 and over but there is the occasional weekend matinee on Sundays for the 18 and over crowd.
