Information about this business (3)

Founded in 2003 by Michelle and Valentin Garcia, Bleeding Heart's Organic Mission has really taken off and become a for-runner on the Chicago Local Bakery scene. The style in unique and very artistic with a flare for Rock n' Roll, but never sacrificing the beauty. The bakery uses all organic ingredients from the flour, to the butter and everything in between. Whenever local products are...

First certified organic retail bakery in the United States. Opened Oct. 31, 2005. Second location now opened at 1955 W. Belmont!

The asymmetric neon sign glowing Organic Bakery may lead some to believe that Bleeding Heart Bakery produces tasteless and uninspiring sweets. Those people have obviously never sampled any of the bakery's red velvet cupcakes or witnessed any of their tattoo wedding cakes. Vegans and carnivores alike love Bleeding Heart Bakery, self-proclaimed as local, sustainable, punk rock pastry. Inside, the...

We used Bleeding Heart for just a small portion of our wedding day sweets. We got a cake from somewhere else, but for our vegan guests we got some stellar vegan treats from Bleeding Heart. I can't review them on wedding cake, but if you are looking for a vegan option for your wedding, I highly recommend Bleeding Heart. Non-wedding related and non-vegan purchases were also very tasty. You could...

Whiskey Chocolate, Pink Lemonade, Peanut Butter Bacon. Those are just 3 of the flavors we had for our wedding cupcakes. To top it off, our cutting cake was shaped like a giant cupcake (at my request). It even had a giant cherry on top!

I am gluten free, so about half of the cupcakes were GF. But no one even noticed. They were all equally delicious. My mom loved the 'White Trash' cupcakes so...

We didn't order a full-on wedding cake. Our friend made cupcakes, and we ordered a 6" cake from Bleeding Heart to cut. Everyone working at the bakery was friendly. The cake was beautiful and delicious, and I love that they use a lot of local, organic, and sustainable ingredients.

They were super professional and friendly to work with, their business has squeaky-clean ethics (how many businesses are so environmentally, socially, and health conscious at all) but most...
