A touch of class

I had one of the most amazing dinners hear last week. The rabbit appetizer was to die for. The main course, the filet w/ caramelized onions and grilled asparaguses on the side was amazing. The wine from the Napa Valley was a bit overpriced, but it made the meal. The staff was a delete to deal with. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

"Still humming", this "special-occasion" West Loop New American from Paul Kahan matches...

The neighborhood surrounding it continues to gentrify, but Paul Kahan's Mediterranean-inspired restaurant remains refreshingly simple. The service is friendly and prompt, and the tables are tucked together so tightly that eavesdropping on the well-heeled young professionals who surround you is inevitable. Kahan's specialty is allowing individual tastes to shine, and his best dishes are those...

Blackbird Restaurant Review

This high-flyer on the West Side's restaurant row draws patrons as hip as its austerely architectural setting. They crowd the sleek bar, waiting to settle down on high-tech chairs or high-backed banquettes at tables so close together only someone who eats like a bird can squeeze between them. But no one who eats like a bird could fully appreciate executive chef Paul Kahan's sophisticated dishes...

The menu at Blackbird is always adventurous, without being risky. Three of us ordered different entrees and desserts, and all were happy with our selections. The server brought wines to pair with each, and all selections were spot on.

Went there for an anniversary, so we did it up with the Winter Tasting menu and the wine pairing. Service was impeccable. Food was really, really good... I just wish my layman's tastebuds truly knew and appreciated what we were eating. The wine pairing totally made it worth it. Overall, it was a great experience.

Did the fixed price lunch menu. Great value! All courses were outstanding. Some of the cocktails were $22 each. Good but pricey!

Best Restaurants: The West Loop's Randolph Street is something of a restaurant row, anchored by Blackbird from local hero Paul Kahan. His food is modern and upscale but deeply committed to local sources and truly seasonal in its changes. The place has the feel of an art gallery: a little stark and a little hushed when empty. But that state doesn't last long into the evening. Blackbird has an...
