Coming in you go up the stairway, which itself is beautiful and it lends to a feeling of a more removed atmosphere. A removed atmosphere in a good way as it adds to the romantic interrior. Recommended by the Inn at Montpelier, we visited the Black Door and ate dinner under the setting Vermont sun on the rooftop patio. Great atmosphere!

The dinner was composed of mostly local foods per their menu. I had the spinach salad and the pork tenderloin - both were excellent. A great way to experience Montpelier.

I went here for New Year's Eve and the music was excellent. The restaurant part is mostly downstairs and the music and entertainment is ups...
