I was not happy at all with my experience at the Birthplace. I heard from others about the nurse's and staff but I went with Salem Hospital anyways. It was the only hospital my doctor was affiliated with. I loved my doctor and didn't want to lose out on having him deliver my baby. I had my first child in Virgina. I had a wonderful experience. I figured the Birthplace couldn't be as bad as everyone made it out be. Some people are just to sensitive. I'm a tough girl, I could handle it. I had my daughter there in July of 2010. They had my mom waiting in the waiting room from 10 in the morning and KNEW she was there but still didnt feek the need to tell her that I was pushing. My mom didn't even hear about the baby untill about 8:30 when i had the baby at 7:08pm. The nurses were rude to me and my boyfriend. After everything they had me push that button that rings the lullaby through the hospital at about 9pm!! Then I had to stay for about 2 night and the whole time I was having trouble breast feeding and asked for the lactation specialist over 5 times one day and they just...

My daughter had her 2nd child at the birthplace in Salem Massachusetts in late March of 2009. Her entire stay she felt rushed, neglected and like a nuisance. I got a phone call from her in the very early morning hours asking me to come pick her & my grandson up to go home. I did just that. She was released early, thank goodness. I can understand the stress the nurse's have but in my opinion if they didnt want to be nurses they should have chosen a different profession. We all lead stressful lives & have hard jobs not just nurse's. My daughter lost her first baby when she was 14...
