What the community has to say about Birches Restaurant

Information about this business (1)

The upstairs dining room is immensely popular for functions of five to fifty, while the elegantly cozy main dining room is perfect for that special evening out or a delectable bite on the way home. Even the nonsmoking regulars prefer to dine in the historic red oak cocktail lounge where the neighborhood conversations permeate the relaxed atmosphere. Birches Restaurant, named after Robert...

The light fare offered alongside Birches' grilled specialties makes this little Cantonite even more appealing.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Birches Restaurant Review: While the wood-burning grill remains at the heart of chef-owner Brian Bruso’s kitchen, he has added a host of light-fare offerings to his roster of grilled meats and seafood. Now you can nosh on an "Ashleydilla," which consists of grilled shrimp, black beans, grape tomatoes and Monterey Jack cheese stuffed into a flour tortilla and paired...

While the wood-burning grill remains at the heart of chef-owner Brian Bruso’s kitchen, he has added a host of light fare offerings to his roster of grilled meats and seafood. Now you can nosh on a New England version of Cobb salad, its grilled chicken breast anointed with a maple Cajun rub. Or a turkey burger topped with Colby Jack cheese and grilled red onions. We especially enjoy the...

Great winter dinner spot, beware of fishy lobster

Birches is warm and cozy. Great place for dinner during the chilly winter months. They have a great beer list that impressed my beer snob husband. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the wine list. The selection was not impressive, so I went with a beer instead. They offered a few season items that were very yummy. The winter squash soup was AMAZING and the French onion we just as good. Our...

our fave

My husband and I have been loyal customers since Birches opened. We LOVE it! We go for the mid-week specials, special event dinners, and just a drink. The staff know us and what we like. Brian is very accomodating with my food allergies and the food is always perfect. My husband loves the pizzas, burgers, and garlic frites. My faves are the baked potato club on Wednesday nights, spinach salad,...

Phenomenal Restaurant

This is a funky little restaurant and bar in Canton. It's a little hard to find and parking in the neighborhood can be scarce. But don't let that scare you. YOU MUST GO! This is definitely the best kept secret in Baltimore. Everything is chef-prepared by the owner/chef. I have never had a bad meal here and can recommend everything on the menu. Custom-spiced butters! Grilled veggies on a chilled...

Hello from Birches!

As a local restaurant/tavern owner in Baltimore for almost nine years I take an incredible amount of pride in furthering the culinary scene of our city. Unfortunately from time to time we have to deal with people like BKelly. This was a table of three people who felt a right to self entitlement and therefore believed they could treat my staff, wife and me however rudely they wanted and then...

YUK! What Happened????

Use to enjoy the food; however, after our thrid consecutive bad experience, my wife and I have decided to never eat at this restaurant again. On our most recent visit the food had absolutely no flavor. In addition, we had to witness the owner and his wife have a very loud argument. Three strikes, your out Birches.

Business description (3)

Fine Dining

With culinary expertise focused on a northeastern American fare, this is an upscale grill. Expect the average entrée to cost between $12 and $20, and you`ll be fine if dressed up -- on the nicer side.

Atmosphere: Architectually, the restaurant is in an historic structure. The facility has a rustic and traditional 1940`s New England style décor with a jazz theme. The interior is accented by...

Housed in a historic two-story space, this reputable grill features two dining rooms, a bar and lounge, and patio. The menu offers a variety of crowd pleasing sandwiches and appetizer, as well as several steak and fish dishes. Birches' Folly features wood grilled shrimp and scallops over baby spinach saute served with sweet white corn, yellow tomato and basil pesto salad.
