There is really no fair way to rate a Police Department.. Because the department is only as good as the Officer handling an incident at that time.. Or the dispatcher on the phone at the time you call.. If the employee is having a bad day or allows personal feeling to play in on their actions.. You get a bad opinion of the entire department... Bessemer Pd has some great Officers and Dispatchers...
Bessemer police killed Miss Proctor. This department is despicable. A shame tax dollars are not protecting its citizens. I will be voting against all the elected officials pertaining to this department.
Officer King was extremely disrespectful towards a former Army/Police veteran today, the fact that police officers like to escalate things just to slap handcuffs on someone who was playing with a known friend is unprofessional and ignorant. I withdraw my application to work with Bessemer police and look elsewhere in the matter.
The way that officer king treated an army veteran and former police officer was highly disrespectful and uncalled for. You never tell someone that they should be "put down for being a veteran", especially when they are the reason you have the freedom to wear that badge. I sure hope this was an isolated event and not a reflection of the whole Bessemer police force.
How some of your officers treat military/veterans is totally uncalled for and should be addressed .
