My wife and I went here for our 2 year wedding anniversary after receiving a gift card form our friend. The food was so good. Their Rock Star martini was my wife's favorite part and mine was this hummus, baba ghanouj, and tabouli app. We could of had it for a meal! Highly recommend this place.

It's no surprise that Sandra Bullock's bistro is a cozy and stylish spot. The historic stone building on the edge of downtown remains comfortable no matter how packed it becomes. The menu is just as warm, with comforting American dishes… Read More
Years after actress and former part-time Austin resident Sandra Bullock opened this bistro, Bess still holds its movie star appeal to the city’s dining crowd. A historic stone building houses the popular, stylish spot. The menu features comforting American dishes and Creole specialties sharing space with more contemporary French bistro fare. Start with zesty shrimp Bess, which reminds us of New...
I had an enjoyable time at Bess Bistro. I liked the interior look of restaurant. Our waiter was really nice and made sure to tell us where all of the food came from, like which farm and part of the country. The food portions weren't very big, but the food was well cooked and flavorful.
The restaurant is dimly lit and cozy. You can tell that the furniture is expensive too. The waiters were nice but the food took awhile to come out. I recommend the brussels sprouts as an appetizer. The entrees are small but delicious.
Wonderful experience! The food, wine, service was all great. We will go back one day while visiting in Austin! Charming little place. Looking forward to another evening there.
I had read about Bess Bistro in an interview by Sandra Bullock a few weeks before I visited Austin. I'm a huge Sandy fan, so when my boyfriend and I went to check out the city, I knew we had to try it. Bess Bistro was such a great experience. Our waiter, Brian, was so welcoming and helpful, as was the rest of the staff who tended to us. The atmosphere is very romantic, but there were also...
Had a great experience at Bess. I made my reservation via Open Table and requested that a bottle of wine be ready on the table when we arrived (celebrating an anniversary). When we arrived it was all set-up and they had a card signed by the staff congratulating us on our anniversary. Well done! The food was well prepared and service great. The scallops were great and flank steak had great...

Every city worth its culinary salt needs a couple of those underground restaurants that are accessible only by little stairways, marked only by red awnings and housed in buildings that used to be one thing but which are now some other thing entirely. Helping to fill Austin underground eating scene is Bess Bistro, which deals in a menu that's best described as 'Atlantic' and does so in an...
