What the community has to say about Berbati

Information about this business (1)

Greek food and fun can always be found in this Old Town establishment. A whole meal, including hummus, a cocktail or beer, and a traditional Greek dish such as calamari or souvlaki, can be had for less than $15. Large groups seated inside the sidewalk cafe-type restaurant can make it crowded, and you need at least six people for a reservation. But not to worry, the full bar and fine service...

Berbati's Restaurant Review

Berbati's is a less ambitious spot than it used to be. Once upon a time well-known rock bands played here, and the restaurant served a wide range of Greek cuisine. In its current incarnation, it's a college-age hangout featuring music (live and recorded), strong cocktails and tasty snacks. The lounge has pool tables, pinball machines, big TVs and more. The menu still offers some Greek...

Editorial review from Citysearch

There is A LOT of excellent Greek in the area and Greek is my favorite so when I say this is one of my favorite Greek spots I mean it. Try the hummus and pita for sure. I really like their yogurt sauce on everything. That stuff is manna from heaven. I tend to stick with beef kabob plate, but everything looks good - esp with yogurt sauce.

Awesome Greek food- fun atmosphere

Great Greek food! Unique decor- often have interesting live music acts. There are three rooms to hang out in, depending on what your mood is.

Business description (4)

Berbati Restaurant can be found at Sw 2nd Ave 19. The following is offered: Restaurants: Grill. The entry is present with us since Sep 9, 2010 and was last updated on Nov 14, 2013. In Portland there are 10 other Restaurants: Grill . An overview can be found here.

An extensive remodel, completed in early 2013, separated Berbati's restaurant and bar, from its formerly adjioing club space (now, the Kit Kat). A game room has been added, and live poker games are regularly hosted.

Great people watching from the smoker-friendly outdoor tables, located on 2nd Ave, and in the Ankeny Street Alleyway.

Mediterranean fare served late, daily. Full menu available...

The Papaioannou family moved to Portland in 1966 from their home on an olive grove in Berbati, a small village in the Peleponesos region of Greece. Two Papaioannou brothers opened Berbati Restaurant in its current Old Town location in 1987 as a traditional Greek family restaurant. Several years later, the restaurant became regular host to live music on the weekends.
