It was---and still is---a totally unintimidating initiation for diners of all ages and sophistication levels, thanks to the fun formula of dinner that's a show. A limited menu of accessible eats (steak, chicken and seafood, stir-fried… Read More

Benihana Restaurant Review

For many diners, the national restaurant chain of Benihana is equated with a fun night out for a birthday or special occasion that includes a show. A limited menu of accessible eats (steak, chicken and seafood, stir-fried teppanyaki-style on a steel griddle built into diners’ own tables) is cooked by knife-wielding showmen who slice ‘n’ dice, flip shrimp into their hats, and otherwise play with...

Knife-wielding chefs put on a show at this communal Japanese grill.

In Short
Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs...

Benihana Miami Beach is in desperate need of a make over, the restaurant is run down and very dirty, the prices however remain the same even though the place is borderline disgusting as to cleanliness. The food however continues to be outstanding. Although the authentic chefs at the table are no longer anywhere to be found. If I had to give a rating the food is a 10 while the service and...

We have been here many times before, but this time the experience overall was pretty disappointing! To start we had a 7:15 Reservation and were not seated until 7:50, 35 minutes late. My husband went to the bar to get some drinks while we waited and was completely ignored for a full 10 minuets, he actually had to find a manager to get the bartenders attention. There were 7 of us and one of the...

Had 7PM reservations on 7/15/18, showed up at 6:30PM. It's fine that they were not able to seat us early as I asked, but we weren't seated until about 15-20 mins late. When I asked about how much longer the wait will be at 7:05pm, one hostess showed concern asking another 2 about the wait. The other two clearly showed no empathy or concern in just saying they don't know. I had my 2, 4, and 6yr...

The experience was exceptional. The chef was personable, prepared food quickly, very skilled, I can’t quite remember his name, I believe it was Fardo or something like that from Haiti. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The waiter Marcos was awesome! He took great care to provide great service to my family and I. He went the extra mile when he knew it was my birthday. My...

Benihana was founded by a Japanese entrepreneur, Rocky H. Aoki, in 1964 in New York City. The restaurant is one of the leading Japanese-style steakhouses and maintains locations throughout the United States, Asia, Australia and Europe. Famous for its teppanyaki-style cooking, Benihana serves a variety of Japanese dishes, including sushi, yakisoba, noodles and beef julienne. It offers a range of...

Japanese-born Rocky H.
