Had authentic bengali food in a restaurant probably for the first time. We ordered hilsa, spicy goat curry, aloo posto and luchi. Having bengali food several thousand miles away from home after months really excited me and almost everything tasted yummy.
We needed a quick meal and found Royal India when walking along Mass Ave. No great ambiance, but food was good and reasonably priced. At a nearby tyable, a family had been coming for years and their young son was friendly with the staff aqnd ran around like it was his second home. So we figured it must be good....
This unpretentious and genuine Indian restaurant is typically frequented by South Asians who know they will get a good meal. It's not your standard issue 'curry' but an interesting menu (which can be ordered hot or not)
Not the best of Indian food, just another alternative if you're thinking Indian. Buffets are decent, and ambience can be better.
The food here didn't blow us away, but it was definitely good Indian. The mutter paneer stood out as a particularly strong dish, and the price was very reasonable for the pricy Cambridge area. Good choice!
