Bellwether Restaurant Review

If you’re a twenty-something hipster you might enjoy the retro vibe of this place. You may even overlook the high decibel level of the front room, where people dine alongside loud bar-goers. If you do, or if you're lucky enough to be seated in the relatively quieter and airy back space (before the DJ revs up), you could find the very limited menu of New American small plates interesting, albeit...

Royal Oak space fancied up by Anella and Calyer peeps. Killer sound system complemented by crack DJs working later-night lounge scene. Cocktails upgraded as well, like house Boilermaker pairing Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA with Dickel’s whisky. New American menu does the small plates thing: tripe mole, salmon with apple cider, hangar steak with caramelized onion. Raw bar and Eurocentric wine...

I had really high hopes for

I had really high hopes for this place. However, we went on New Years Eve. There were only two people on the floor. It took us 15 minutes to get noticed while we waited at the bar (despite having a reservation), then another 10 to get our drinks. An hour later when we finally sat, we learned that the menu was very limited. The server was in a hurry as if they weren't really into NYE and were...

Incredibly exciting.
We were completely impressed by everything in this place. The food is outstanding, the lamb tartare is just a delicacy together with the lavander fresh peach pannacotta. service is pleasing and the atmosphere is great!

Tasty Food, But Portions Too Small

Came for brunch at 2pm on a Sunday. Got a seat right away as there was only a handful of tables seated. Disappointed to see the crabcake I'd come for was gone from the menu. Wanted the SF Scramble, but they were out. Got the cold fried chicken sandwich, which sounded gross but seemed to be the best value on the menu since it was the only item that came with a side (fries, total $12). It was...

Oh my god...

The BEST burger I've ever had. Seriously.

Wowzers!

Unfortunately, menupages doesn't keep up with how often these guys change the menu. Easily the best food in North Brooklyn. The place is cozy and elegant, if that's possible, the sound is good, but the food... They have an outrageous raw bar. Oysters, for sure, but a bunch of things that get souped up and excite the palate. But I've also had an amazing hangar steak. pork belly, and last night...
