The Bell-in-Hand Tavern is a lively place to be. During the early part of the week, folks stop in for a bite to eat, drinks, and to listen to local bands play a variety of live music. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday night the crowd picks up as does the music scene. We have two floors, 5 bars- live music, DJ- Something for everyone. As America's oldest continuously operating tavern, the...

The country's oldest continuously operating pub (founded 1795) is named for the occupation of its original owner, town crier Jimmy Wilson. On the edge of Faneuil Hall, this straightforward pub has live music every night of the week downstairs. If you're brave, sing forth at the Tuesday-night karaoke. There are DJs on Friday and Saturday upstairs.

Step into the days of the early republic. Claiming to be the oldest tavern in America, BIH definitely has that old-world english tavern feel with a modern day polish. From run-of-the-mill bar food to an array of local beers, this place is exactly what you'd expect from Boston's college town bar scene. Just stopped in for some drinks. Cool little tavern atmosphere. Staff was friendly. Would be a cool lunch spot.

Had the BEST lobster rolls...sauteed in butter, big lumpy chunks of lobster meat perfection. They do not use filler, and they do not skimp! Not to mention you can sit and have a beer in a pub where people who argued out the details of...

Karaoke: Bell in Hand is reportedly the oldest tavern in the United States, although the long-lived pub has not always been at this location. In business since 1795, Bell now caters to a young, partying crowd. Live music is offered Tuesday to Saturday nights, and a jukebox provides entertainment when bands aren't in session. The bar's small menu of traditional pub eats is ideal if you arrive...

Tips about this business (4) view all

The Extras: Ironically, the ancient tavern has one of the most modern jukeboxes; its Internet connection puts 100,000 songs at your fingertips. But watch the clock: It shuts off at last call, and you'll lose your songs and your money.

Know Before You Go: After a few pints with a large group, be careful not to over-tip: Servers automatically add an 18 percent gratuity for parties of eight or more.
