Beehive, the quaint farm-to-table restaurant that chef Janice Henning opened in Boulder nearly two years ago, closed its doors quietly. Henning took a ten year hiatus from the kitchen until 2012 when she decided to resurrect her eatery Beehive, originally located in Denver in the space that now houses Table 6. The Boulder iteration, as the original, did not cut any corners: everything from jams...
An early love with sculpture is what drew Joanna Powell to a career in the pastry arts. After graduating from the pastry program at the Culinary School of the Rockies at 21 years-old and decorating massive amounts of cake at King Soopers, Powell landed a head-pastry position at Café Aion in 2010. She continues to work there part-time, putting out seasonally-inspired pastries, among the best in...
Denver Restaurant Week will launch on Saturday, February 22. While participating restaurants attract many diners, there are still those who seek to get away from the $60 dinner-for-two promotion. Why get away? The massive crowds, the manipulated menus which sometimes do not reflect the essence of a restaurant, the stressed-out waitstaff that gets paid less and works more during the promotion,...

It may be cold outside but Denver's dining and bar scene keeps getting hotter. New restaurants and bars that attract the crowds and make diners wait in line and get excited for great experiences open at a fast pace around the metro area. Often Eater gets this question: Where should I go for a drink right now? Where should I dine this week? What's new, what's hot, where do the crowds flock to?...
This place is never very crowded even when all the others are packed. This saddens me, because the food is superb and the ambience is charming. It's expensive, but not terribly. Entrees range from 18 to maybe 32. I think it's because the white metal chairs are uncomfortable, and it looks like a lunch place even when it's dinner. I...
The food was pretty good and the review would have been a solid 4 if: 1) They had more than one high chair. I mentioned needing two for our reservation and the one was already in use by another table, so we had 0. 2) They did an auto gratuity of 20% for a table of 4 adults because we had two babies with us. We would have tipped it anyway, but I don't appreciate the sketch move. 3) Had to ask...
No wait to get in for brunch. Beehive had a great atmosphere - open windows with a bar where you could enjoy the air, and inside had a cool vibe - kind of like Grandma's kitchen if your grandma was young and hip and happy.
Waiter was sweet and attentive, food was outstanding. We both had the Anaheim chile scramble...
Save yourself some money and avoid this place at all costs! One of the worst meals I have ever eaten and it was very pricey. Our waitress was awesome but over worked. She was running the entire restaurant by herself. The woman who owns it was rude to us as well. Head to the kitchen if you want a similar farm to table experience. Trust me Beehive is not worth it.
Not a great experience -- won't go back. The food was just OK.It was already lukewarm to cold when it landed on our table. There was nothing technically wrong with it, it just wasn't particularly tasty or memorable in any way. Also, I had been told that the restaurant was kid-friendly, but the menu didn't reflect …
