It's always nice to see an employee rise through the ranks and become a boss. In the case of Beck's Book Store, Robert Beck became his own boss in the early 1950s after working in someone else's bookstore for 10 years. The Northwestern University location in downtown Evanston focuses on textbooks, and inside it's an explosion of purple NU sports gear.
