For a "legitimate Italian" "fill-up", this Bastianich Restaurant Row "standby" supplies an "ever-popular" $23 bottomless pasta "binge" and a $25 wine list that "clinches the deal" for "tourists as well as in-the-know" locals; its "down-to-a-science" service is tailored to the "multitudes" who indulge "pre-show."
Becco Restaurant Review: Owners Joseph Bastianich and his mother, Lidia, felt that the Theater District needed a touch of her Felidia Ristorante at a more attractive price point---thus Becco. The name is derived from the Italian verb, beccare, meaning to peck, nibble or savor something. Savor the moderately priced prix-fixe or á la carte enormous meals that may start with a classic Caesar...
An ingenious concept makes Becco a prime Restaurant Row choice for time-constrained theatergoers. There are two pricing scenarios: one includes an all-you-can-eat selection of antipasti and three pastas served hot out of pans that waiters circulate around the dining room; the other adds a generous entrée to the mix. The pasta selection changes daily, but often includes gnocchi, fresh ravioli,...
If you’re a fan of Lidia Bastianich’s PBS cooking shows, you can sample her simple, hearty Italian cooking here. Becco, on Restaurant Row, is designed to serve her meals “at a different price point” (read: cheaper) than her East Side restaurant, Felidia. The prices are not rock bottom, but in terms of service, portions, and quality, you get great bang for your buck. The main courses can head...
The Scene
Abbondanza is the name of the game here, where a one-price-buys-it-all menu gets you in and out quickly, inexpensively and wishing you hadn't had that second bite of dessert....
Great food and outstanding service. My client proclaimed it her new favorite restaurant. And there were Italians (from Italy) dining there, so you know it's good. GREAT place. Quiet, service above and beyond. Truly excellent experience.
This restaurant has had consistently good food for years. We go because we KNOW what we are going to get and we love it. We always order the "lunch special" which is three different pastas (served family style) for lunch. It is a great value for NYC that includes salad and endless pasta if you wish. Of course, the meal is started with a huge box of bread/breadsticks for you to enjoy with a side...
Great value. Price was good for the quality of food served.
Loved it have been going there for over 10 years, and everytime I go, it gets better and better.....
