This is a greasy spoon. If you want to get a feel for a small town cafe and Oxford then this is the place.

The food is pretty good. The service is hit and miss. But there's always racial tension whenever I go with non white friends. Overall it's a good place for a cheap burger and onion rings but it can be awkward if you have diverse friends.

A trip back in time to the sixties where one could get a home cooked meal or burger with onion rings fresh cooked.
As a student at Ole Miss. back then, the Beacon was just that. With or without the cash, one could eat. The charge was sent home to grateful patents (no hungry kids)

While traveling with family in Oxford, we dropped in at the Beacon for breakfast with our group of 7 family members. We were offered a large table in their back room which proved to be quieter than the busy front of house. Hmmn, maybe because of the two LSU Fans in the group? The Beacon has been a favorite for locals and Ole Miss students for many years. It offers down-home Southern favorites for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are opened Monday-Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
