Working with The Basement Store Online was the worst experience. Pls do your research and choose your contractor wisely, we wish we had. 1st of all, the General Contractor, Phil only shows up to collect money. He rarely inspects the work. There will be a subcontractor for each job: framing, drywall, installation, electric, painting=no communication. He doesn't talk to them, then he tells them not to talk to customers. When there was problem, each contractor blamed one another. Worst part, each subcontractor told us that he doesn't pay them or owes them $$ which= disgruntled workers & cheap work. They have several jobs going on so they don't show up each day. Framing took 3+ wks, drywalling 3-4 wks. Inspect everything. We would have had a curved wall if we did not complain. An engineer indicated that the walls weren't straight, there were large gaps around the casing, the doors don't close properly. A 600 sq ft basement took 6 months to complete and we were told it was good timing for them. Some customers waited longer. Last, there were tons of complaints about them once we did some deeper digging through the internet. There was a complaint on the BBB and some other sites. Miraculously, many of those reviews are gone. It appears that the address of the company changed several times. For a company supposedly in business > 20 years, why so few positive reviews? Also, the company appears to have had several addresses: Long Branch, Flemington, Howell. Really think about it.
