THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Andre's Restaurant Review

Tucked away on River Oaks Boulevard, Andre's is a popular lunch spot for genteel ladies and those who want a taste of the Old World. Of course, it's tempting to skip lunch when you take a peek at the gleaming bakery cases full of tarts, éclairs and artfully anointed cakes. The lunch special comes with one of the decadent pastries or you can choose from the list of salads and sandwiches. The...

THIS LOCATION NOW CLOSED - The River Oaks Andre's was modest but first-class all the way for many years, a great place to get a nice lunch at a reasonable price, with awesome pastries, cakes and...

I recently had the opportunity to devour their white cake with raspberries. OMG this cake is so good. It's soft and fluffy, and sweet but not overwhelming. The raspberries were fresh tasting...

Business description (2)

For almost 40years, we have been the cafe and bakery of choice for houstonians from all walks of life. Since then, we have expanded with additional locations in Uptown Park and Rice Village. We have been producing the very best pastries and have won numerous awards for best pastry chef and best restaurant over the years.

This is the kind of place that once passed for foreign dining among a certain set in Houston, circa 1969 or so. The specialty at this 1940s strip center on the edge of River Oaks is--what else?--quiche Lorraine. Even so, it's hard to walk past the gleaming pastry case without ordering a few buttery treats. While you're at it, you might as well have a cup of good café au lait as well. The croissants, though small, are among the best in Houston. Be sure to eat them with a little tub of tart Swiss-made Hero jam.
