Editorial reviews from the web (4)

One of the newest players on the Boston scene, the 114-room Ames is all New England modernity even though it's run by the hip Morgans Hotel Group (think the Delano and Shore Club in Miami). Foregoing the region's typical brocade and earth-tone interiors for something a bit more sleek, über-designer David Rockwell infused the rooms with sink-into white bedding, white marble, and light oak...

Ideally located in the historic Ames building near Faneuil Hall and Beacon Hill, this 113-room property features an onsite restaurant-bar, Woodward, named for a tavern once housed in the Ames family home. Rooms boast white marble bathrooms…

It's no surprise that the clubby Ames hotel—where even the elevator has its own playlist—quickly became a hip local hangout following its 2009 opening. Occupying the 19th-century Ames Building, which is ideally located near Faneuil Hall, the hotel has style built in: The largely white-on-white guest rooms show off the landmark's fine bones, including high arched windows. A little local color...

Great Location

Very modern rooms. Perfect location, bang near all the historic places. Rooms are a little smaller. We were a family of 4, and though the we had booked for 2+2 accommodation, it was cramped considering we were travelling with a toddler. Bathroom privacy is a wee bit odd especially when kids around!! Thats my only grouse! Otherwise, fantastic place.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is well situated. The T station is opposite the building and most of sights are just a short walk from the hotel. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, and we really enjoyed it! The room was very clean, modern, and I LOVED the toiletries! I usually don't care for the shampoo and conditioner in hotels, but the Molton Brown products they had were fabulous! The staff members we had contact with were equally fabulous. They were so kind and...

Loved our stay at the Ames! The rooms were cool and modern. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the location is PERFECT, if you are there to play tourist.
Right next to Faneuil Fall/Quincy Market, 5-10 minute walk to Boston Commons one way, and 5-10 minute walk to the North End. Ubers were about $8 everywhere else.
Will definitely stay...

The Extras: Head up Washington Street for big-time shopping in Downtown Crossing. Food-shop-nightlife megaplex Faneuil Hall is nearby. Lush Boston Common and Dickensian Beacon Hill are also within walking distance.

Fun Fact: When it was built in 1893, the Ames Building was Boston's tallest skyscraper. The Ames' Woodward restaurant includes many artifacts in its Cabinet of Curiosities, including dozens of remnants of old clay smoking pipes that were turned up by the Big Dig road reworking.
