Thank you ACPL for taking and destroying my first-ever childhood library card when I accidentally used it instead of my newer one. Thank you for robbing me of the talisman that represented the beginnings of my wonder, joy, fear, and creativity.

People seeking to trace their ancestry often travel from far and wide to this library, thanks to its huge genealogy department — the second largest in the country. A large and knowledgeable staff will help you with your search. Built in 1969, this was also the first library to hold all available Federal Census records, which date back to 1850.
