Information about this business (5)

Located in the famous Rockefeller Center , Alfredo of Rome is the right pick for a quintessential Italian meal. Named after the original 1914 Roman restaurant, it is most renowned for its delicious Fettuccine. The story goes that the owner's wife only ate Fettuccine when she was pregnant. It's the same recipe that has been passed down through the generations, and has made this eatery famous....

In it's Rockefeller Center location, Alfredo of Rome joins its award winning predecessors at Epcot Center in Walt Disney World and the original Alfredo of Rome where in 1914,the original fettuccine Alfredo was invented. New York's new 8000 square foot installment offers a contemporary twist on the classic Roman fare that made Alfredo a household name and, of course, the irresistible only...

Editorial reviews from the web (4)

This midtown tourist restaurant has exactly one thing to recommend it, but it's worth putting up with the place's cheesiness to get to it. This is the New York branch of the original Alfredo's in Rome where Fettucini Alfredo was invented. And this is probably the best fettucini alfredo you'll ever have. It's just noodles, cheese, and butter (no cream) but the way it's presented and served just make it really special.

Alfredo's of Rome Restaurant Review

You’ve heard of fettuccine Alfredo. Now meet the restaurant that invented it. Well, sort of. The Alfredo's of Rome in Rome was where fettuccine Alfredo originated. This New York location continues innovating Italian food, with Italian sushi that's sure to prepare your palate for the entrées.

A little bit of Rome, a little bit of New York and a claim on the original recipe for fettucine Alfredo.

In Short
Alfredo feels stuck somewhere between the worlds of the red-and-white checkered tablecloth Italian joint and business-meal restaurant. Visual adornments range from the campy to...

History and a good meal

This restaurant is a great lunch with the girls stop during your trip to New York. The food was good and staff was sweet. If you are lucky you can get a seat at a table by the window and amuse yourself with the variety of people walking past. :)

I went for the fettucine alfredo

I was there in May and was told that they were closing at the end of the week. I do hope that they do re-locate. But...the last couple times I was there, I was disappointed in the fettucine alfredo. Did they change the recip?

Good food, nice folks

The staff was professional and the food was good; I had the house Fett. Alfredo, obviously their specialty, and I thought it was a good representation of a classic dish, not too cheesy, not too much sauce, just right. My only complaint would be that the chef was going for more inoffensive than dramatic, maybe true to original Italian home-style cooking, not bad, but could have been bolder in...

Mediocre Tourist Trap

What a disappointment - but I should have known an Italian restaurant so close to Rockefeller Center would be a tourist trap.
I started out with Lobster Bisque - at least that is what they said it was. It was orange and creamy and slightly sweet and maybe tasted a little bit of lobster but for all intents and purposes...
