OK, I confess, I'm a bit of a nostalgist, and maybe that's part of why Alden does it for me. Their styles are pretty much the classics, wing tips, loafers, etc. and a lot of them are not for me, but if there a style you like, you can pretty much bet it will be the best fitting, best made, best loved pair of shoes will own. Of particular note for the rainy slippery streets of SF in the winter is a simple ankle high shoe that can be had with a discrete Vibram sole (of hiking boot fame). Their service is impeccable too.
