Help us make it rightChicago's local boutique.
Akira first opened in 2002 as a single Women's Clothing store in trendy Wicker Park/Bucktown and is equally owned by Erikka Wang, Jon Cotay, and Eric Hsueh. Over the last four years, Akira has since expanded to six stores and a website. Akira now offers a full-line of Women and Men's Clothing, Footwear, and Accessories. Known just as much for their exciting Fashion Shows and jam-packed parties...
The "displays pull" "trendy" twentysomethings into these "high-energy" boutiques offering "a wide range" of "chic", club-worthy threads, accessories and jewelry in shops for men and women; thoughts on staffers range from "pushy" to "so helpful", and while some deem the wares "overpriced for the quality", most admit to being "ob-freaking-sessed."
In Short
Robin's egg blue and tangerine walls stenciled with butterflies don't overpower this expansive showroom of designer and the store's own line of clothing. Premium denim in all...
You can find good deals here and there, but if it's not on sale, it's definitely over priced. I enjoyed the large selection of clothing and the sales person was very helpful. The quality of the clothing might not be the best, and the clothing is very trendy.
Pros
+ Helpful staff, sales
Cons
- Unoriginal clothing
When I first moved to Chicago there was only 1 Akira on North Avenue in Bucktown/Wicker Park....now I think there are about 5 spanning from the old neighborhood to downtown....it's kind of disconbobulated.
Anyways, despite the geographical challenges, I have always shopped for shoes there and will continue to do so. They do carry style trends but many of the shoes there are just great looking shoes that no one else has which look great forever!
Pros
+ Very trendy yet unique selection
Cons
- I...
Akira has really cute clothes at a cheap price. I love all of their tops and dresses. The staff never seems to be friendly with me, but others say they are great. There are really cute shoes at some of the locations too.
The clothes here are very nice..just don't expect to wear half of them to a formal place. Most of the clothes are to be worn out to a party or a fun night out.
This store is actually one store divided into multiple stores on the same street. Womens, mens, accessories are separate and worth going to each. Original designs are trendy and inexpensive, shoes are cute and unique. I get more…
