The building may be historic (it was the first planetarium in the Western Hemisphere), but some of the attractions here will hold the attention of even the most jaded video game addict.

This place is fantastic. Very interactive , the Planetarium shows are informative and visually amazing. There was a lot of people and shows sold out quickly , so planning ahead would be beneficial to ensure you see everything you want.

The few exhibits we did get to see were great. We had a voucher from expidea which the cashier wasn't what to do with !! We had 2 shows included in our voucher the shows were great but we were disappointed that the planetarium closed...

This museum opened its doors in 1930 and became the first planetarium in the western hemisphere. The large facility has multiple exhibits, presenting artifacts and information about the universe; state of the art technology, allowing visitors to view and explore the solar system; and a theater, where educating and entertaining shows are presented.

Experience 3D virtual reality in the StarRider theatre, visit the Zeiss Sky Show Theater, and learn how all about the universe and how it is changing in the museum.

Know Before You Go

Admission is sold in packages, with discounts for Chicago residents. Admission plus one show is $16 for adults ($14 Chicago residents); $14 for kids ages 4-17 ($13 residents); $15 for seniors ($13 residents). Additional shows cost $5.
