University of California students have another great place to take visiting parents, who will undoubtedly be charmed by the adorable residential architecture and well-tended front garden, and the spacious dining hall's British décor of a century ago. Hefty wood tables and chairs cower beneath dark panels that soar upward to the 25-foot ceiling, made darker by spindly, haunted house chandeliers....

In a large, beautiful room, the atmosphere is charming and a welcome alternative to the ten decibel restaurants that are the current rage. The service is exceptional, with employees who are extremely knowledgeable, courteous and obviously enjoy their work. It is also the only restaurant in the neighborhood that one can relax and enjoy their meal without feeling rushed.
