For "sumptuous dining" "with all the perks", this "romantic", "extraordinarily refined" Polk Gulch classic is in "a league of its own", proffering "superb", "imaginative" Italian tasting menus complemented by an "amazing" 100-page wine list and "impeccable" "formal service" that leaves the "moneyed crowd" feeling "pampered"; an "elegantly peaceful" former chapel setting and touches such as...

The beauty is in the details at elegant Acquerello, San Francisco's top contemporary Italian table. If you arrive wearing black, you'll be offered the option of a black napkin to avoid getting white lint on your clothing. Waiters move in perfect synchronicity, delivering plates in an effortless ballet, whisking them away unseen. But most impressive is the cooking. Flavors positively sprawl...

Acquerello Restaurant Review

Named for the watercolors that line the walls of this intimate former chapel, Acquerello offers cooking that is anything but delicate. Instead, come here for contemporary interpretations of Italian cuisine from chef and co-owner (with Italian wine expert Giancarlo Paterlini) Suzette Gresham-Tognetti. Guests may choose a prix-fixe menu or splurge (wisely) on the seasonal tasting menu. If...

This Italian spot takes its name from the tasteful watercolors that decorate the room. The food is authentic, mannered and rich. Chef-owner Suzette Gresham's menu changes often. Begin with a delicate Parmesan budino, a custard-like dish studded with spinach and zucchini. A warm salad of frisée and pancetta is topped with a seared squab breast. Among the splendid pasta dishes is the Swiss chard...

One of the finest meals I have ever eaten. Creative and brilliant. Soothing without pretentious room. Meticulous staff. Incredible wine list with a great somellier. I can't wait for my next opportunity to dine there. Don't think of the cost, it's immaterial to dining at this restaurant. If it was closer to my home, I would dine there once a week.

The food was nothing short of spectacular. The flavors were incredible and the chef's use of local ingredients was flawless. The other amazing part was the sommelier

Took my boyfriend here for his 35 birthday. I wanted a super duper extra special and fancy dinner to show him how much I love and appreciate him and this was the perfect big ticket wow I was looking for. Not at all within my usual budget but well worth the splurge and there are more expensive places, for sure. Wonderful little surprises from the chef throughout the experience so a 4 course...
