Caveat Emptor - ignore other services that contain prefixes to the name (such as AAA-Dekalb Tree Service). Only deal with Keith Hutcheson who has been doing this for years. Keith's quote for removing a 130-foot pine tree next to my house was so low I was suspicious. The $1400 included stump grinding. Other quotes were 3x that - without stump grinding. After having called Gunnison's 3 times with no response, I called DeKalb Tree Service and made an appointment for an estimate. Keith showed up at the scheduled time and gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work. They removed four huge trees located across a creek and on a steep hill and did an excellent job. They had to remove a portion of my fence to get the stumps out but put it back...

We lost a giant pine tree in a storm last month, and we were concerned that the roots of a larger pine right beside it had been damaged. We hired Dekalb Tree Service to remove the pine and grind the stump of the tree that had fallen. They gave us a fair estimate and seemed much more knowledgeable than the other guys we talked to.
